Terms of Service
Last updated: July 23, 2026
Welcome to TypeBooks. By using the website or app (“Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What TypeBooks is
TypeBooks is a typing practice tool. You practice by retyping public-domain book text, track simple progress (such as XP and levels), and may create an account to keep progress more easily.
Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract in your country. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you. The Service is not directed at children under 13.
Accounts
- You may use the Service without an account (local-only progress).
- If you sign in with Google or email, you are responsible for that account and for keeping credentials secure.
- Provide accurate information and do not impersonate others.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law or abuse the Service
- Attempt unauthorized access, scraping at abusive scale, or disruption
- Reverse engineer except where allowed by law
- Misuse authentication or create accounts by automated means
Content and intellectual property
- Book texts we ship are believed to be public domain (e.g. Project Gutenberg sources). Public-domain status can vary by country.
- The TypeBooks name, logo, UI, and original code are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy the product as a competing service.
- Your typing progress and stats belong to you; you grant us a limited license to store and display them to provide the Service.
Tips and donations
TypeBooks is free to use. Optional tips via Buy Me a Coffee are voluntary and do not unlock features. There is no paid subscription or Lite/Pro plan.
“As is” service
The Service is provided as is and as available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime, perfect accuracy of stats, or that the Service will meet every goal (including language-learning outcomes). To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50.
Termination
You may stop using the Service anytime. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or if we shut down the Service. Sections that should survive (IP, disclaimers, liability limits) will survive.
Changes
We may update these Terms. We will change the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.
